The annual Bancroft Science Fair has been postponed by Dr. Forsman, citing concern about the size of snow banks at and around Bancroft. A new date is expected to be announced soon.
Please read the full letter from Dr. Forsman:
Dear Bancroft Science Fair Families,
I hope everyone survived the never-ending snow over the last four days. The snow dropped by this storm and the two storms before have certainly presented traveling challenges. The school custodians, with assistance from several town departments, have done an amazing job preparing the school for the reopening of school today, Wednesday, 2/11.
After consulting with Dr. McGrath, I have made the decision to postpone the Science Fair scheduled for this evening, Wednesday, February 11th. The decision was made with the safety of everyone in mind. The decision was made due to the large snow piles remaining in the schoolyard which make seeing around snow banks in the parking lots in the evening challenging. Additionally, there is concern about the snow banks along West Knoll Road which will make any necessary overflow parking challenging.
The make-up date will be announced in this Friday’s Bancroft Bits.
I know this is a disappointment to all our hard working scientists. I am looking forward to this wonderful event. The children have been working hard on their projects and I am sure they are excited about sharing the results of their efforts.
Thank you for your understanding.
Please be safe during your travels.
Take care,
Mal Forsman
