The Ice Bucket Challenge has been sweeping New England, bringing awareness to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Your social media feeds may be full of family, friends, and favorite athletes drenching themselves with cold water, and the big wave has hit Andover Public Schools!

When Sara Wells, President of the Bancroft PTO, did the ice bucket challenge for ALS she passed the challenge along to the leader of our school, Dr. Forsman; the leader of our district, Dr. McGrath; and the leader of our school committee, Annie Gilbert.  All three accepted the challenge, and were drenched  by Bancroft students in The Park by the Andover town offices.

You can watch Sara’s Ice Bucket Challenge video and the video of our school leaders’ Ice Bucket Challenge on YouTube.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to ALS research and/or helped raise awareness of ALS through an Ice Bucket Challenge.  We appreciate Dr. Forsman, Dr. McGrath and Annie Gilbert’s eagerness to meet the PTO’s challenge with such enthusiasm!
