The first annual APS Service Day is this week! This is a wonderful opportunity to get kids involved in giving back to our community while honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who said “Everyone can be great because everyone can serve.” Here is a list of some of the projects that your family can participate in this week:

1) Cereal drive for the Lawrence YMCA Food Pantry: The food pantry is running out of cereal, let’s help by collecting as much cereal as we can so we can help them restock and provide breakfast to families in need. All types of cereal accepted. Bins to collect cereal will be in the Bancroft lobby this week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. For hybrid families, please consider sending your students to school this week with a box of cereal they can drop in the bin on their way to class. For remote families, you can drop off cereal anytime during school hours in the Bancroft lobby this week or you can drop off cereal at the bin just outside the door of the Cormier Youth Center (40 Whittier Ct) from Tuesday-Friday this week. For questions please contact Amy Hamilton,  Katja Maravelias, or Emily DiCesaro.

2) Neighbors in Need Diaper and Formula Drive: Diapers and formula can be dropped off at 12 Moreland Ave in Andover anytime this week. For questions please contact Melissa Hammond.

3) Compassion Takes Action School Supply Drive: New and used school supplies (markers, erasers, pens, pencils, crayons etc..) are being collected for children in the Rohingya Refugee camps. Dropoff is at 49 Juniper Drive in Andover anytime this week. For questions please contact melissa.nelson6@me.com.

4) Lazarus House Food Drive: There will be a box in the Bancroft lobby through this week to collect food for the Lazarus House. Click here for a list of the foods needed most.

Other service day options are also listed on the service day website and you can click on each opportunity for more information and to sign up/contribute.

If you participate in one of these events/drives, take a picture or a video and send it to us!  We’ll showcase your efforts on the website.  Have any questions?  Visit our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) or contact us at info@apsserviceday2021.org.
