Andover School Committee member Annie Gilbert will be at our next PTO meeting, this Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm in the media center at Bancroft school. Ms. Gilbert will share the School Committee’s plan and process for redistricting schools for the 2014-2015 school year.
By way of background, the Andover School Committee has formed a redistricting subcommittee of which Ms. Gilbert is a member. The published premise of this subcommittee is:
The new Bancroft School will open for the 2014-2015 school year. To plan for the opening and increasing Bancroft’s population to 680 students, a redistricting of the elementary schools need to occur. This will result in the eventual elimination of K-2 students at Shawsheen and the re-balancing of the number of students in all five elementary schools. The timing of the implementation of the redistricting plan will be in part dependent upon construction progress, demolition of the existing building and build out of sufficient play ground and field space.
